To
be a wordsmith and put thoughts into words,
turn words into sentences, sentences into paragraphs and paragraphs into pages. Ah,
writing.
Welcome
to erikageiss.com,
the central repository for the literary work of professional
wordsmith, Erika-Marie S. Geiss. I have over a decade of professional
publications experience, which began when I was a fellow at the Museum
of Fine Arts, Boston, working on such exhibition catalogs as Van Gogh Face | | to Face
and Monet in the
Twentieth Century editing and providing exhibition
histories and provenance research. My first publication was as a
contributing writer in Monet,
Renoir and the Impressionist Landscape. I was bitten by
the writing bug and since then, I have written many articles and essays
on a variety of topics (including art history, my primary field),
written a couple of books, edited countless articles, essays and books
for others, and joined the blogging world. In addition to being a
professional blogger, and copy editor for World Energy Magazine
and World Energy Monthly
Review (and occasional writer for the latter), I also
publish theWAHMmagazine,
the only content-driven digital magazine for work-at-home
parents. My latest book,
The Right Words for Any Occasion (West Side
Publishing, an imprint of Publications
International) will be out later this fall. To learn more
about my new book, The
Right Words for Any Occasion, view the media kit it and
pre-order copies, please visit the press room.
As
a writer, I know the importance of having a good editor. As an editor,
I understand what writers go through--it can be hard to let your baby
go off to be "red lined" and critiqued by
someone else. If you need an editor--one who understands--please visit
the editing page. And
speaking of babies, I wouldn't be me if I didn't
find some way to mention my little guy, who
seems to be heading for a writing career himself.
Grant it, he's only 2 1/2, and like every other
mother, I think my child's a genius, but his love
of books and nascent writing development give me hope that he will also
be bitten by the writing bug.
Please
enjoy your visit and come
back often because much like the development of a
wordsmith, this site is always a work-in-progress. Bookmarking,
sharing and linkbacks are also appreciated.
